Earl Studios was founded in New Hampshire in the summer of 1998, equipped with an old 486 computer, a copy of the book "HTML Goodies" and a wealth of free time. "It was the summer before my senior year at UNH, I had just finished working at the Hot Rize cafe and school didn't start for another month." remembers Earl Studio’s president and founder, Jeremy Earl Mayhew. "I had dabbled in making websites, mostly for school marketing projects or for fun, but really hadn't had a chance to study it in depth or explore the technology. So I took that whole month of August and really devoured anything I could learn about web design and development, and that is really where my passion for new media blossomed."
Since those early days, Earl Studios has grown and expanded to become a recognizable name in new media development by sticking to the principles it started with. "When we began, it was all about the little guy, providing small business with the new media tools that allow them to operate like the big companies, and loving what you do doesn't hurt either." says Mayhew. "There are times I've put in 80 hour weeks, more often than I’d like to count, and I loved every minute of it, because I know Earl Studios is making a difference, a difference in the livelihood of our clients and a difference in the New Hampshire business community."
So what is in store for the future of Earl Studios? "Just focus on the client, that's the key no matter how big we get or how fast we are growing." says Mayhew. "As long as I and every one of Earl Studio’s employees love what she or he does and is having fun, we'll be o.k. Any time I get frustrated or overworked, I just pull out this pin I made when I was in second grade. On it in crayon is written "I live to program computers" with a apple and IBM icon, and I remember being a kid and being fascinated by computers and I remember that doing this, owning Earl Studios isn't a job or a burden, it's the dream of a 8 year old come true, and then no problem seems all that bad."
